Grounds Maintenance
Asset Services is responsible for landscape maintenance at all of the University's metropolitan properties including Parkville, Burnley, Southbank and Werribee.
Landscape maintenance and garden care typically involves:
- Management of trees, shrubs, groundcovers, wall creepers and climbers (mulching, pruning, etc.)
- Irrigation water use
- Lawn care (mowing, weed control, etc.)
- Plant health management
- Weed control
- Garden refurbishment
- Water features and ponds
- Protection of heritage garden assets
Asset Services also manages the contract cleaning of external areas of the campuses, including litter and recycling waste bins, poster kiosks and signs, as well as fixed BBQ's.
We work closely with other areas of Property and Campus Services to minimise the impact on the campus grounds from construction and infrastructure upgrade and maintenance projects.
All queries relating to wildlife management, bicycle parking racks, hard surface repair, temporary and fixed external signage, landscape furniture, fixtures and lighting, litter and waste management and use of the campus grounds for activities and events should be directed to Grounds at Asset Services.

Asset Services also maintains all existing external seating / tables, rubbish bins, fencing (fixed and temporary), paving and bollards which can be replaced or repaired as required. Asset Services also looks after road / footpath repairs, trip hazards (e.g. potholes), external handrails and drain / pit covers. Small type banners can also be installed and removed by Asset Services.
